Which Monsters Can Hear You in REPO

In REPO, most monsters can hear you, and sounds like talking, walking, and using items will attract their attention. The main exceptions are the Reaper, Peeper, and Shadow Child, who cannot hear you.
Playing REPO is a thrilling mix of stealth and panic, and knowing which monsters can hear you is super important for staying alive. You're always trying to sneak around, grab loot, and get out without becoming monster chow. While it might feel like every creature is tracking your every move, some are actually deaf, which can be a huge advantage if you know who's who.
Who Can Hear You?
Almost every monster in REPO has some level of hearing, and they'll react to noises you make. Think of it like a giant game of "Marco Polo," but with way scarier seekers. When you make a sound, it creates an "audible bubble" in the game. If a monster is inside that bubble, it'll notice and often head towards where the noise came from.
The Huntsman is the absolute worst when it comes to hearing. This guy is blind, but his ears are incredible. He can hear "five times further" than any other monster. That means even a little whisper can bring him running, and he's not shy about shooting his shotgun first. I remember one time, my friend and I were hiding, and I accidentally bumped my microphone. Next thing I knew, the Huntsman was right outside our closet, blasting away. We were done for! So, with the Huntsman, silence is not just golden, it's necessary.
Other monsters like the Clown, Trudge, and even the smaller Animals will also respond to sounds. Things like sprinting, jumping, or even just talking in your mic can draw them to your location. If you're carrying certain "trap items" like a radio or a music box, they can even cause monsters to respawn faster, which is a big headache.
The Deaf and the Unhearing
Not all monsters are sound-sensitive, thankfully! Knowing these few exceptions can totally change your game strategy.
The Reaper, sometimes called "Swords for Hands," is completely deaf. She can't hear you at all, so if you're quick and she hasn't seen you, you can sneak right past her. Just be super careful not to let her see you, because once she does, it's a full-on chase, and she'll break anything you try to hide behind.
The Peeper and the Shadow Child also cannot hear you. The Shadow Child is spooky, often heard giggling nearby, and your vision might get dark if it sees you. But as long as you don't look at its face or get too close, you're usually safe. The Peeper just tries to stare you down and deal damage that way.
Being a Silent Scavenger
To avoid being heard by the monsters that do listen, here are some key things to remember:
- Crouch Walk: Your footsteps while crouching make no noise at all. This is your best friend for moving silently.
- Watch Your Voice: Voice chat in REPO has a range that monsters can hear. If you must talk, crouch - it doubles the grace amount of noise you can make.
- Mind Your Items: Dropping items, hitting things, or using certain interactive objects like pianos can create big noise bubbles that draw monsters from far away. Try to be gentle with your loot!
- Hiding Spots: Hiding under furniture can work, but only if a monster didn't see you go in there. Some monsters, like the Trudge, can even reach under things if they know you're there.
I once had a very close call with a Reaper. My team was panicking because we heard something, but I remembered she was deaf. So, instead of hiding and hoping, I slowly peeked around a corner. She was right there, but facing away. I managed to sneak right past her and grab a key item without her ever knowing I was so close. It was a heart-pounding moment, but knowing that little detail saved our run.
Understanding how each monster senses you in REPO is a big part of getting better at the game. Whether it's the super-hearing Huntsman or the deaf Reaper, adjusting your strategy to their unique abilities will help you survive longer and extract more loot.
