Why Can't I Use Keys in Subway Surfers?

It can be super frustrating when you've saved up a bunch of keys in Subway Surfers and then can't use them when you need them most. I remember one time I had over 100 keys and was on a roll, then I crashed and the option to use a key was greyed out. So, why does this happen? The most common reason you can't use keys in Subway Surfers is that you are playing in a game mode that doesn't allow revives, like the Marathon or some special events.
Keys in Subway Surfers are a valuable currency. You can use them to unlock cool outfits for your characters, get special boards, and, of course, to save yourself when you crash. But, as I mentioned, there are some limitations. It’s not always a bug when you can’t use your keys. Let's break down the reasons why you might not be able to use your keys.
Why Can't I Use My Keys?
Here are some of the most common reasons why you might be having trouble using your keys in Subway Surfers:
- Game Mode Restrictions: The most likely reason you can't use your keys is because of the game mode you're playing. Some modes, like the Marathon, are designed to be more challenging and don't allow you to use keys to continue your run.
- Special Events: Some special events also have their own set of rules. These events might disable the use of keys for revives to make the challenge more about skill.
- Accidental Spending: I’ve done this more times than I’d like to admit. You might have accidentally used your keys to unlock a new character or a special board without realizing it. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your key count.
- It Might Be a Bug: While not as common, it's possible that you've encountered a bug. If you're sure you're not in a restricted game mode and you have plenty of keys, you might want to try restarting the game. If that doesn't work, clearing the cache or even reinstalling the app can sometimes fix the issue.
