Who is the Best Among Us Player?

When it comes to figuring out who the "best" Among Us player is, there isn't one single right answer. It's a game where skill can look different depending on whether you're tricking friends as an Impostor or using your brain to find the bad guys as a Crewmate. What makes someone great often comes down to their smarts, how well they talk, and how quickly they can adapt.
Among Us quickly became a huge hit because it’s a fun game of social deduction where players work together - or against each other - on a spaceship. Crewmates try to complete tasks and find the Impostors, while Impostors try to secretly kill everyone without getting caught.
A truly great Among Us player isn't just good at one thing; they're usually skilled in many areas. They need to be observant, able to tell a convincing lie, and quick to spot when others are lying. Good communication is key, whether you're defending yourself or accusing someone else. It's also super important to understand how the game works, like map layouts and task timings, to make smart moves.
Mastering Your Role: Top Strategies for Impostors and Crewmates
Playing as an Impostor is all about deception and making cunning moves. You want to cause chaos and eliminate Crewmates without raising suspicion.
Here are some top strategies for Impostors:
- Fake Tasks Properly: Stand at task spots and pretend to work. Watch the taskbar on the top left of the screen, and only "finish" your task when the bar actually moves (from another Crewmate completing their own task) to make it believable. Don't fake visual tasks like the MedBay scan, as Impostors can't actually do them.
- Strategic Sabotage: Use sabotages to your advantage. Turning off lights makes it easier to get a kill without being seen. Sabotaging the reactor or O2 forces Crewmates to gather, making them easy targets or splitting them up.
- Vent Wisely: Vents are your best friend for quick escapes after a kill or moving around the map without being noticed. Just be sure no one is watching the vent entrance!
- Manipulate Discussions: Talk during meetings! Don't be too quiet, or you'll look suspicious. Try to shift blame to innocent Crewmates or even self-report a body you just killed to seem like an innocent bystander.
- Backstab Your Fellow Impostor: It sounds harsh, but sometimes, if your co-Impostor is about to get caught, voting them out can build trust with the Crewmates and keep you safe for longer.
I remember one game where I was an Impostor, and my partner made a really obvious kill right in front of two Crewmates. Instead of trying to defend them, I immediately joined in the accusations, even suggesting where I thought my partner had vented. They got voted out, but it made me look completely innocent. I won the next round easily because everyone trusted me after that!
As a Crewmate, your job is to complete tasks and figure out who the Impostors are before they get you. It takes sharp eyes and good memory.
Here are some important Crewmate strategies:
- Stay in Groups: Moving around with other Crewmates makes it harder for an Impostor to kill you without witnesses. "Vouching" for each other's locations helps clear innocent players.
- Watch Visual Tasks: If someone does a visual task (like submitting a scan in MedBay or clearing asteroids), you know for sure they're a Crewmate. Stick with them!
- Fix Sabotages Quickly: Always help fix sabotages, especially critical ones like O2 or Reactor Meltdown. If these aren't fixed in time, the Impostors win, even if they haven't killed everyone.
- Pay Attention to Player Movement: Notice who is coming from where, especially around bodies or sabotaged areas. Impostors often come from vents or suspicious routes.
- Communicate Clearly: During meetings, state where you were, what you were doing, and who you saw. If you have solid proof, share it. If you're unsure, it's often better to skip a vote than to vote out an innocent Crewmate.
There was this one time I was playing on The Skeld, and I saw Cyan standing perfectly still in MedBay, clearly "faking" the scan task. The taskbar wasn't moving, and I knew from experience that the MedBay scan is a visual task. So, when the next meeting was called, I confidently told everyone, "Cyan is sus! I saw them faking tasks in MedBay, and the taskbar didn't move for their visual!" We voted them out, and it turned out I was right. It felt great to catch them red-handed!
