How the Noisemaker Role Works

The Noisemaker is a Crewmate role that was added to Among Us in a June 2024 update. Unlike some roles where you have an active button to press, the Noisemaker's ability is passive. This means it only activates when an Impostor takes you out. As soon as you're killed, a visual alert pops up on the map for all living Crewmates, pointing right to your body. This alert doesn't last forever, so players need to react quickly.

This role is super helpful for Crewmates because it makes it much harder for Impostors to get away with a sneaky kill. Imagine an Impostor kills someone in a quiet corner, expecting the body to go unnoticed for a while. If that victim was a Noisemaker, BAM! Everyone instantly knows a kill happened and exactly where to look. This can stop Impostors from self-reporting a body they just killed, or from trying to pin the blame on someone else who was far away.

I remember one game where I was the Impostor, and I thought I had a perfect kill in Electrical on Polus. Just as I vented away, a Noisemaker alert flashed on everyone's screen right where I had been! My heart sank. The Crewmates swarmed the area and, even though they didn't see me vent, they immediately knew the kill location and narrowed down the suspects. It totally ruined my plan to pretend I was doing tasks on the other side of the map.

Playing as a Noisemaker (and Against One)

Being a Noisemaker might seem a bit sad since your power only works when you die. However, it's a powerful role that can truly change the game.

Here’s how to make the most of it:

• Be a Martyr: Don't be afraid to stick around suspicious players. If you think someone is the Impostor, try to get them to kill you in a spot where other Crewmates might be nearby or where the Impostor will be easily seen leaving.
• Avoid Isolated Areas (Sometimes): If you're hoping to expose an Impostor, getting killed in a highly trafficked area can be more effective. The alert will draw players, and they might spot the Impostor running away.
• Don't Self-Report Too Quickly: If you hear a Noisemaker alert and then a body is reported very fast, it could mean the Impostor killed the Noisemaker and then immediately self-reported. This is a big red flag!

For Impostors, the Noisemaker is a real pain. You generally want to avoid killing a Noisemaker if you can, especially if you're trying to be stealthy. Some Impostors might try to kill Noisemakers during a "Comms Sabotage" because, according to some players, the Noisemaker alert might not go off during this time, making it a safer kill. But this strategy isn't always reliable, so it's usually best to be extra careful.

I recall another game where I was a Crewmate, and we were struggling to find the Impostors. Tasks were almost done, but no one had been voted out. Suddenly, a Noisemaker alert popped up in Admin. Two Crewmates quickly ran there, and they saw Cyan leaving the room, acting super shifty. They reported it, and after a quick discussion, we voted Cyan out. Turns out, Cyan was an Impostor, and the Noisemaker's sacrifice directly led to our win. It felt like a small victory for that fallen Crewmate!

The Noisemaker role brings a unique dynamic to Among Us, making death itself a valuable tool for the Crewmates. It adds another layer of strategy, forcing Impostors to be even more careful and giving Crewmates a powerful way to gather information.
