How to Supercharge Buildings in Clash of Clans

In Clash of Clans, players are always looking for new ways to make their bases stronger and their attacks more powerful. One feature that lets you do just that for your defenses and resource production is Supercharging buildings.

So, how do you supercharge buildings in Clash of Clans? You can supercharge certain buildings once they reach their maximum normal level at higher Town Hall tiers, usually starting from Town Hall 16 and above. This process gives them a temporary stat boost, like more damage or health, helping your base perform better.

What is Building Supercharge?

Supercharge is a special feature that lets you boost already maxed-out buildings in your Home Village. Think of it as giving your defenses or resource collectors a temporary power-up beyond their highest regular level. Instead of calling them "Level 17," for example, they become "Charge 1," "Charge 2," and so on.

These Supercharges come with real benefits. For defensive buildings like X-Bows or Inferno Towers, you might see an increase in damage per second or hitpoints. For resource collectors like Gold Mines or Elixir Collectors, a Supercharge can boost their production rate or storage capacity. A cool visual cue is that supercharged buildings glow with a blue electric field, which gets more intense with each charge.

The best part? Supercharging often costs less resources and takes less time than a full normal upgrade. This makes it a great way to squeeze out extra power from your base without a huge investment.

How to Supercharge Your Buildings

Supercharging is pretty straightforward once you meet the requirements:

1. Reach High Town Hall Levels: This feature usually unlocks at Town Hall 16 and above.

2. Max Out the Building: The building you want to supercharge must already be at its highest regular level for your current Town Hall.

3. Have a Free Builder: Just like regular upgrades, you need one of your Builders (or B.O.B.) to start the Supercharge.

4. Select and Spend: Tap on the maxed-out building, and if eligible, you’ll see the option to Supercharge it. You’ll spend some gold or elixir, and your builder will get to work.

Each eligible building can typically be supercharged two or three times. Defensive buildings usually have two charges, while resource collectors can have up to three.

I remember the first time I supercharged an X-Bow. I was pushing trophies and every little bit of defense mattered. Seeing that blue glow and the small bump in damage made me feel like my base had an extra edge against tough attackers. It's those small, smart upgrades that really make a difference at higher levels.

Which Buildings Can You Supercharge?

The list of buildings that can be supercharged grows with new updates and Town Hall levels. As of November 2025, if you're at Town Hall 17, you can supercharge buildings like:

And if you've made it all the way to Town Hall 18, even more buildings become eligible, including Air Defenses, Bomb Towers, and Multi-Archer Towers, alongside your Gold Mines, Elixir Collectors, and Dark Elixir Drills.

It's important to know that Supercharges are temporary. They last until a new regular level for that specific building is released, usually with a new Town Hall update. But don't worry, your progress toward the "Supercharger" achievement still counts even if they reset!

Don't Confuse Supercharge with Super Troops

It's easy to mix up "Supercharge" with "Super Troops," but they're different! Super Troops are temporary, souped-up versions of your regular army units, like the Super Barbarian or Sneaky Goblin. You activate them in the Super Troop Barracks for a few days using Dark Elixir or a Super Potion, and they come with unique, powerful abilities for your attacks.

I once thought a "supercharged building" meant I could send in a super-powered PEKKA to attack. It took a clanmate explaining the difference for me to realize that "supercharge" was about making *my base* stronger, not just my attacking army. Both are cool features, but they serve different purposes!

Is Supercharging Worth It?

Absolutely! While the stat boosts from Supercharging might seem small compared to a full upgrade, they can give you a significant edge, especially in competitive play like Clan Wars or pushing trophies. Every little bit of extra defense can mean the difference between a win and a loss. Since the cost and time are lower, it's a great way to keep your base at peak performance in between major updates. For players at max Town Hall levels, it’s a smart way to continue improving your village. This helps keep the game fresh and offers a way to get stronger without necessarily needing to spend real money to speed things up, making it feel less like Clash of Clans is pay to win.
