How to Summon Spirits in Elden Ring

Elden Ring can be tough, but summoning spirits can make a huge difference. These ghostly companions can help you in battle, distracting bosses and dealing extra damage. If you're wondering how to get these helpful allies on your side, you're in the right place.
To summon spirits in Elden Ring, you need the Spirit Calling Bell. You get this from Renna at the Church of Elleh. Once you have the bell, you can use Spirit Ashes at a Rebirth Monument to summon your spirits.
What You Need to Summon Spirits
Before you can start summoning, you need two key items:
- The Spirit Calling Bell: This is the most important item. To get it, head to the Church of Elleh at night and talk to Renna the Witch. She'll give you the bell. If you miss her, you can buy it from the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold. I remember when I first started playing, I completely missed Renna and had to backtrack to find her. It was a bit of a pain, but totally worth it for the ability to summon spirits.
- Spirit Ashes: These are the actual spirits you'll be summoning. You can find them all over the Lands Between, from defeating bosses to exploring hidden areas. Each Spirit Ash is a different creature or character with unique abilities.
How to Summon Your Spirits
Once you have the Spirit Calling Bell and some Spirit Ashes, you're ready to summon. Here's how to do it:
1. Find a Rebirth Monument: You can't just summon spirits anywhere. You need to be near a Rebirth Monument. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see a ghostly archway icon on the left side of your screen.
2. Equip Your Spirit Ashes: Go into your inventory and equip the Spirit Ashes you want to use in one of your quick item slots.
3. Summon Your Spirit: Use the quick item button to summon your chosen spirit. This will use up some of your FP (Focus Points), so make sure you have enough.
Upgrading Your Spirits
As you progress through the game, you'll want to make your spirits stronger. You can do this by upgrading them with the help of Roderika at the Roundtable Hold.
I'll never forget the first time I summoned the Lone Wolf Ashes. I was having a really tough time with a boss, and those three wolves made all the difference. They distracted the boss enough for me to get in some good hits and finally take it down. It was a game-changing moment for me.
Summoning spirits is a key part of Elden Ring, and it can make your journey through the Lands Between a lot more manageable.
