How to Kick People in Among Us

Among Us is a super fun game, but sometimes you run into players who just aren't playing nice. Maybe they're cheating, being rude, or making the game less fun for everyone else. Knowing how to kick people out of your game can help keep things enjoyable and fair.

So, how do you kick someone in Among Us? The short answer is: if you're the game host, you can kick or ban players directly from the lobby. If a game has already started, players can vote to kick someone during a meeting, but it requires a majority vote.

Kicking Players When You're the Host (Before the Game Starts)

If you're the one who created the game, you're the host, and you have the most power. This means you can easily kick or even ban players before a match even begins. It’s super handy for making sure your lobby is full of good sports.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Open the chat: In the pre-game lobby, look for the chat icon, usually at the top right of your screen.

2. Find the "boot" icon: Just below the chat icon, you'll see a small boot symbol or a similar icon that looks like a person being kicked. Click on it.

3. Select and kick: A list of players in your lobby will pop up. Find the name of the player you want to remove and click on it. You'll then see options to "Kick" or "Ban" them. Choose "Kick."

Kicking someone means they leave the current game, but they *could* potentially join your lobby again later if they have the code. Banning them, however, means they can't join your specific lobby ever again. I usually opt for kicking unless someone is being truly disruptive, like spamming hateful messages or has a super inappropriate name. One time, I was hosting a game, and someone joined with a really offensive name. I was so glad I knew how to kick them right away before anyone else had to see it. It really keeps the game friendly.

Kicking Players During a Game (After it Starts)

Once a game has started, kicking works a bit differently. As the host, you don't have the power to just kick someone on your own anymore. Instead, it becomes a group decision, just like voting out an Impostor.

Here’s how to initiate a kick during a game:

1. Call a meeting: You'll need to either report a body or hit the emergency meeting button in the cafeteria.

2. Open the chat/voting screen: Once the meeting starts, the chat window will appear. Look for the same "boot" or "kick" icon you saw in the lobby.

3. Vote to kick: Select the player you want to kick. You'll cast your vote, and other players will need to vote for the same person. For a player to be kicked during a game, a certain number of players (usually three or more, depending on game settings) need to vote for them to be removed. If enough players agree, that person gets ejected from the game. This is often called a "vote-kick."

This "vote-kick" feature is designed to stop hosts from abusing their power once the game is in full swing. I remember one time, my friends and I were playing, and someone was clearly cheating, telling everyone who the Impostor was from a separate chat. We all quickly coordinated during an emergency meeting and successfully vote-kicked them out. It felt good to get back to a fair game!

When to Kick or Ban Someone

Deciding when to kick or ban someone comes down to keeping the game fun and fair for everyone. Here are some good reasons:

Remember, kicking should be used wisely. Don't kick someone just because they were a good Impostor or because they suspected you! That just makes the game less fun for everyone.
