How to Heal in Genshin Impact

When playing Genshin Impact, keeping your characters healthy is key to winning tough fights and exploring Teyvat without worry. Luckily, there are a few easy ways to heal your team when their HP starts to drop. You can rely on special healing characters, tasty food, or even the magical Statues of the Seven scattered across the map.
Healing with Characters
The most active way to heal in Genshin Impact is by using characters with healing abilities. These characters usually have Elemental Skills or Bursts that restore HP to themselves, the active character, or the entire party.
Some popular healers include:
- Barbara (Hydro, 4-star): You often get Barbara early in the game for free. Her Elemental Skill creates a healing ring, and her Elemental Burst provides a big burst of healing to the whole party. I remember when I first started playing, Barbara was a lifesaver! I didn't understand artifacts or team comps yet, so just having her heal me through boss fights was a huge relief.
- Bennett (Pyro, 4-star): Bennett's Elemental Burst creates an "Inspiration Field" that heals characters whose HP is below 70% and also provides an attack buff.
- Qiqi (Cryo, 5-star): Qiqi's abilities allow her to heal based on her ATK stat.
- Jean (Anemo, 5-star): Jean's Elemental Burst heals the entire party instantly based on her ATK, and then creates a healing field.
- Sangonomiya Kokomi (Hydro, 5-star): Kokomi is known as a top-tier healer, with her Elemental Skill deploying a healing jellyfish and her Elemental Burst allowing her normal attacks to heal the entire party.
Remember to check a healer's talent descriptions to understand how their healing works and what stats (like HP or ATK) it scales with. This helps you pick the right artifacts to boost their healing power. If you want to dive deeper into who the best healers are, check out our post on Who is the Best Healer in Genshin Impact?.
Using Food for Quick HP Recovery
Food is another fantastic way to heal your characters, both in and out of combat. You can cook various dishes that restore a set amount of HP, restore a percentage of Max HP, or even revive fallen characters.
- Restorative Dishes: Look for recipes that restore a good chunk of HP, like Sweet Madame or Mondstadt Hash Brown.
- Revival Dishes: Foods with a "wings" symbol can revive a defeated character and restore a small amount of HP. Teyvat Fried Egg is a good basic revival item.
Be aware that characters can only eat a certain amount of food before they become "full" and can't eat any more for a short time. This means you can't just spam food endlessly in a tough fight. My buddy once got caught out by this in the Spiral Abyss, thinking he could just eat his way through. He ran out of "fullness" and then out of characters, losing the challenge. It taught us both to use our healers more effectively!
Statues of the Seven
The Statues of the Seven are not just for unlocking new map areas; they also offer free healing for your entire party. When you stand near a Statue, your characters will automatically heal. You can also interact with the Statue to adjust how much healing power it uses and even revive fallen characters.
Each Statue has a shared "restorative power" that slowly replenishes over time, even when you're not logged in. This is a super convenient way to top off your team's health after exploring or fighting without using up food or Elemental Bursts. You can even teleport to a Statue from almost anywhere on the map, making it a quick escape and heal in a pinch.
By combining these methods, you can keep your Genshin Impact team in top shape and ready for any challenge Teyvat throws your way.
