How to Get Imposter in Among Us

Ever wondered how some players always seem to be the sneaky Imposter in Among Us? While it might feel like some people have all the luck, the truth is that the game's role assignment is mostly random. However, if you're hosting a game, there are some clever ways you can bump up your chances of becoming the devious Imposter.

Among Us is a game all about mystery and figuring out who the bad guys are. At the start of each round, the game randomly picks one to three players to be the Imposters, depending on the game settings. The rest become Crewmates, tasked with fixing the ship and finding out who the Imposters are. This means that in a standard 10-player game with two Imposters, each person has about a 20% chance of being an Imposter. It's like flipping a coin, but with more sides!

Boost Your Imposter Chances

While you can't force the game to make you an Imposter every single time, you can make it more likely if you're the one setting up the game. This is where being the host comes in handy.

1. More Imposters, More Chances: The simplest way to increase your odds is to have more Imposters in the game. Among Us lets you choose between one, two, or three Imposters. If you set the game to have three Imposters in a lobby with 10 players, your chance jumps to 30%. That's a much better shot than just 10% with one Imposter! The more Imposters there are, the more chaos can be created, which is super fun for everyone.

2. Fewer Players, Higher Odds: Another smart move is to play with fewer total players while keeping the Imposter count high. Imagine a game with just seven players and three Imposters. Your chances of being an Imposter shoot up to around 43%. The downside? These games can end super fast because Imposters need fewer kills to win.

I remember one time my friends and I were trying to get everyone a turn as Imposter. We hosted a game, cranked it up to three Imposters, and only had eight of us playing. It was a wild match! The Imposters were almost always me or one of my closest friends, and we had some hilarious moments trying to trick each other. It made the game a lot more intense when there were so many potential killers running around.

What Doesn't Work

You might hear about "tricks" like spamming the "use" button in the lobby, quickly changing your character's color or hat, or running in circles before the game starts. Many players, including myself, have tried these things hoping for an edge. I've spammed the "use" button so many times my finger hurt, convinced this would be the time! But honestly, these are just myths. The game assigns roles randomly, and these actions don't actually affect who becomes the Imposter. Save your energy for actually playing the game!

Some people even consider using mods or cheats to guarantee the Imposter role, but this isn't fair play and can get you banned from the game. It takes away the fun and challenge for everyone involved.

Playing as the Imposter is easily one of the most exciting roles in Among Us. The thrill of secretly taking out Crewmates and lying your way out of trouble is a rush. When I actually get to be the Imposter, my heart starts pounding. I always try to pretend to do tasks, even though Imposters can't really do them, just to blend in. It's a key strategy to look innocent and avoid suspicion. The most important thing is to enjoy the game, whether you're a diligent Crewmate or a sneaky Imposter.
