How to Donate Troops in Clash of Clans

Want to help your clanmates in Clash of Clans win more battles and defend their bases? Donating troops is a super important part of being in a clan. It’s easy to do once you know the steps!
To donate troops in Clash of Clans, you first need to be part of a clan. Once a clanmate asks for troops in the clan chat, simply tap their request, choose which trained troops, spells, or siege machines you want to send from your army, and hit "Donate."
Being a good clanmate means helping each other out, especially with troop donations. These donated troops can either defend a clanmate's base when they're attacked or be used in their offensive raids. It's a win-win: they get stronger, and you earn some cool rewards!
How to Easily Donate Troops
Donating troops is a straightforward process. Here’s a simple breakdown:
1. Join a Clan: You can't donate troops if you're not in a clan. Make sure you've found an active clan that fits your playstyle.
2. Look for Requests: Head to your Clan Chat. You’ll see messages from clanmates asking for "Reinforcements." These requests usually have a green "Donate" button next to them.
3. Tap the Request: Click on the request message or the "Donate" button.
4. Choose Your Troops: A menu will pop up showing all the troops, spells, or siege machines you currently have trained and ready in your army camps. You can only donate what you've already trained.
5. Hit "Donate": Select the units you want to send and confirm your donation. Your chosen troops will then fill your clanmate's Clan Castle.
A quick tip: I remember one time, our clan leader needed a specific troop for a war attack, and I didn't have it trained. Luckily, Clash of Clans has a "Quick Donate" option. For just 1 gem per unit, you can instantly donate any troop, even if it's not trained yet. It really saved the day for him and showed me how useful that feature can be when you're in a pinch!
What Can You Donate?
You can donate different types of units to your clanmates:
- Troops: These are your regular soldiers like Barbarians, Archers, Wizards, Dragons, and so on.
- Spells: Certain spells can also be donated to help in battles.
- Siege Machines: If you have a Siege Workshop, you can donate powerful siege machines like the Wall Wrecker or Stone Slammer.
Remember, you can only donate troops, spells, or siege machines that are already trained and sitting in your army camps, or use the Quick Donate option for gems.
Why You Should Donate Troops
Donating troops isn't just about being nice; it comes with benefits for you too:
- Earn XP (Experience Points): Every time you donate, you gain XP, which helps you level up your profile.
- Daily Donation Challenge: You can earn extra Challenge Points daily by completing donation challenges.
- Achievements & Gems: There are achievements related to donating troops, like "Friend in Need," which give you free gems when completed.
- Strengthen Your Clan: Stronger clanmates mean a stronger clan, which helps everyone in Clan Wars and Clan Games.
Important Things to Know About Donating
There are a few important details about donations:
- Clan Castle Level: The level of your clanmate's Clan Castle affects the maximum level of troops they can receive. This means a lower-level player might not be able to get your max-level Electro Dragon, even if you donate it, as its level will be adjusted.
- Defense or Offense: Donated troops can be used for either defending a village under attack or for a clanmate's offensive raids.
- Seeing All Requests: If you're having trouble seeing certain donation requests, you can go to "More Settings" by tapping the cogwheel icon, and then turn off "Show Only Relevant Reinforcement Requests." This will let you see all requests, even ones you can't fill.
Sometimes, I've had clanmates ask for very specific troops, like "all Balloons for war!" and it reminds me how much strategy goes into these requests. It makes you feel good knowing you've helped someone prepare for a crucial battle or defense.
How to Request Troops
If you're the one needing help, requesting troops is just as simple! Go to your Clan Chat and tap the "Request Reinforcements" button. It looks like a Clan Castle with a plus sign. You can pick specific troops, spells, or siege machines you need and even add a message. Your clanmates will see it and can then donate to you.
