How to Change My Age on Among Us

Trying to change your age in Among Us can be tricky, as the game doesn't always make it easy. Generally, you can't directly change your age in your account settings once it's set. For PC players, deleting a specific game file might reset your age prompt, while mobile players might need to clear app data or reinstall. iOS users usually have to contact developer support. Remember, changing your age might mean losing game progress or purchases.

Among Us is a super popular game where you try to figure out who the Impostor is among your crew. It’s a lot of fun, but sometimes players run into issues, like needing to change their age. This often happens because your age affects what you can do in the game, especially when it comes to talking to other players.

Why Your Among Us Age Matters

The age you enter when you first start Among Us or create an account isn't just a random number; it actually changes your experience. For example, Among Us wants players to be at least 13 years old. If you're younger than that, or if the game thinks you are, you'll be limited to "Quick Chat". This means you can only use pre-set phrases to talk, which can be a bit frustrating if you want to type out your own messages. To use the "Free Chat" option, where you can type anything you want, you generally need to be 18 or older in most places.

Sometimes, when you first set up your account, you might accidentally put in the wrong birthdate. I remember when my little cousin started playing, he was so excited to jump in that he just quickly tapped through the age entry. Later, he couldn't figure out why he couldn't type freely like his friends. We figured out he’d put himself down as way too young! That’s why getting your age right from the start is important. How to Change Your Age in Among Us

The way you try to change your age depends a lot on where you play the game.

For PC (Steam/Windows)

On a PC, you might be able to reset your age by deleting a game file. This will make the game ask for your age again when you open it.

1. Close Among Us: Make sure the game is fully shut down.

2. Open Run: Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard.

3. Go to AppData: Type `%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Innersloth\Among Us` into the box and hit Enter. This will open a folder.

4. Find `playerPrefs`: Look for a file named `playerPrefs`.

5. Delete or Rename: Delete this file, or rename it (like `playerPrefsOLD`). Deleting it is usually the simplest way.

6. Restart Among Us: When you open the game again, it should ask you to enter your birthdate, and you can put in the correct one.

Important: Deleting this file will also reset your in-game name and other settings. Any custom settings or even some game progress might be lost, so keep that in mind.

For Mobile (Android)

On Android phones and tablets, you might have some luck by clearing the app's data.

1. Close Among Us: Make sure the game is not running.

2. Go to App Settings: Find the Among Us app icon on your phone, then long-press it. Tap "App info" or the gear icon.

3. Clear Data: Look for "Storage" or "Storage & Cache," then tap "Clear Data" or "Clear Storage." Confirm if asked.

4. Restart Among Us: Open the game. It should now ask for your birthdate again, just like when you first installed it.

Just like with PC, clearing the data might remove your game progress or purchases that aren't tied to an Innersloth account, so be careful.

For Mobile (iOS - iPhone/iPad)

Changing your age on an iOS device is generally not possible directly through the game or by reinstalling. Your age is usually locked in once you enter it.

If you made a mistake and really need to change it, your best bet is to contact Innersloth's support team. You can usually find their contact information on the official Innersloth website. Be polite and clearly explain your situation. They might be able to help, but it's up to them.

I tried to help a friend change their age on their iPad once. We tried deleting and reinstalling the app a couple of times, thinking it would be like starting fresh, but it never reset the age prompt. It turned out their age was tied to something deeper with their Apple ID or game services, so we eventually just gave up and decided to contact support instead.

For Consoles (Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation)

For consoles, your Among Us account and its age settings are often linked to your platform's account (like Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation). This means changing your age directly within Among Us isn't usually an option, and uninstalling the game often won't reset it either. You might need to look into how to update your age on your console's main account settings, but even then, it might not automatically transfer to Among Us, especially if the game has already registered an age.

No matter which platform you're on, always be aware that trying to change your age through these workarounds might cause you to lose game progress, items, or purchases. It's usually better to be careful when first setting your age in the game to avoid these headaches later on.

If you enjoy playing games like Among Us and want to make in-app purchases or get some cool cosmetics, you can use Playstorm! Playstorm lets you earn points by playing free games, which you can then redeem for gift cards like Apple or Google Play gift cards. These can be used to buy things in Among Us or any other game.
