How to Awaken a Champion in Raid Shadow Legends

Have you ever felt like your champions in Raid: Shadow Legends have hit a wall? You've leveled them up, ascended them, and equipped them with the best gear, but they still need that extra push to dominate in the tougher dungeons and Clan Boss fights. That's where Awakening comes in, a feature that can take your champions to a whole new level of power. But how exactly do you awaken a champion?
To awaken a champion in Raid: Shadow Legends, you need to go to the Altar of Souls and use Souls specific to that champion. You can get these Souls by fighting the Iron Twins and earning Soul Coins and Soul Essence, which you can then trade for Souls or Soulstones. It's a bit of a grind, but the power boost is totally worth it.
Steps to Awaken a Champion
Awakening your champions might seem complicated at first, but it's a straightforward process once you get the hang of it. Here’s a breakdown of the steps:
1. Go to the Altar of Souls: This is where all the magic happens. You'll find it in your Bastion.
2. Choose a Champion: Select the champion you want to awaken. Remember, you can only awaken a champion to an Awakening Level equal to or lower than their Ascension Level.
3. Get the Right Souls: Each champion has their own specific type of Soul. You can't use a Soul for one champion to awaken another.
4. Fight the Iron Twins: This is the main way to get the resources you need for Awakening. You'll earn Soul Coins and Soul Essence from this fight.
5. Visit the Soul Merchant: Here, you can use your Soul Coins and Soul Essence to buy Soulstones or specific Souls for your champions.
6. Awaken!: Once you have the right Soul, head back to the Altar of Souls and awaken your champion.
I remember when I first started trying to awaken my Kael. I was so confused about where to even start. I spent a good hour just trying to figure out where the Altar of Souls was! But once I got into the rhythm of fighting the Iron Twins and visiting the Soul Merchant, it became second nature. And let me tell you, the first time I saw my Kael with that shiny new Awakening level, it was a game-changer. He started hitting so much harder in the Clan Boss fights, and it made a huge difference for my whole team.
I also learned the hard way that you need to be strategic about which champions you awaken. I got so excited about the new feature that I started awakening every champion I had. But I quickly realized that some champions benefit from Awakening more than others. Now, I focus on my main damage dealers and support champions, the ones I use in almost every battle. This has made my resource management much more efficient. If you want to learn more about which champions to prioritize, you can check out our Raid: Shadow Legends Guide!.
