Where Does Pokemon Legends ZA Take Place?

The next big Pokémon adventure, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is heading back to a fan-favorite region, but with a twist. The game will take place entirely within Lumiose City, the central hub of the Kalos region, which was first introduced in Pokémon X and Y. This is a big change from past Pokémon games that usually have you travel across an entire region.
This news got me so excited. I remember spending hours in Pokémon X just exploring Lumiose City. It felt like a real, bustling city, way bigger than any other city in Pokémon games before it. My favorite part was trying to find all the hidden cafes and boutiques. I once spent a whole afternoon just trying to get into the fancy clothing store, battling all the trainers inside just to afford a new hat for my character. Focusing a whole game on this city could be amazing.
A New Look for Lumiose City?
The announcement trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A showed a futuristic, redesigned Lumiose City. It looks like we will be part of an "Urban Redevelopment Plan," which means we might get to see the city change and grow as we play. This is a really cool idea. It makes me think about how the city will look and what new areas we might get to explore.
I’m hoping they keep the unique circular layout but add new districts or buildings. Maybe we’ll get to go inside the Prism Tower and see more than just the gym. I also remember the frustration of getting lost in Lumiose City because the camera angles were tricky. My friend and I used to complain all the time about taking the wrong cab and ending up on the opposite side of town from where we wanted to go. Hopefully, the new game makes it a bit easier to get around! It will be interesting to see if this game follows the open-world style of a previous title, you can read our thoughts on that here: Is Pokemon Legends Arceus Multiplayer?.
The game is set to release in 2025, so we still have some time to wait. But the idea of a whole Pokémon Legends game set in a single, massive city is super exciting. It’s a fresh take on the Pokémon formula, and I can’t wait to see what secrets Lumiose City holds this time around.
If you're planning on jumping into this new adventure and think you might make some in-app purchases, consider using Playstorm. You can play fun mobile games, earn gems, and redeem them for Nintendo Store gift cards. It’s a great way to save up for any new items or features in Pokémon Legends: Z-A without spending real money.
