What to Spend Gems on in Raid Shadow Legends

Gems are the shiny, precious currency in Raid: Shadow Legends, and it's tempting to spend them on the first cool thing you see. But hold on! Making smart choices with your gems, especially early on, can give you a huge advantage and speed up your progress. So, what should you spend your gems on for the best results?

The best way to spend your first 800 gems is to fully unlock the masteries for your starting champion. After that, your next priority should be to unlock and fully upgrade the Gem Mine. Once those two things are done, you can focus on using gems for energy refills to play more.

Buying Your First Champion's Masteries

This is, without a doubt, the most important thing you can do with your first 800 gems. Masteries are special skills that make your champions much stronger. Farming them the normal way takes a very, very long time. By buying them outright for your first main champion (like Kael or Athel), you give yourself a massive head start. I remember when I first started playing, I was struggling to get past certain stages in the campaign. A friend told me to buy the masteries for my starter, and it was like night and day! Suddenly, I was clearing stages I was stuck on for weeks. That one purchase helped me farm better gear and level up my other champions much faster.

Investing in the Gem Mine

After you've got your first champion sorted with masteries, the next best investment is the Gem Mine. It costs 500 gems to unlock and then more to upgrade it fully. I know, it sounds like a lot of gems to spend without an immediate reward, but trust me, it's worth it. The Gem Mine gives you a steady supply of free gems every single day. It’s a long-term investment that pays for itself over time and then continues to give you free gems for as long as you play the game. Think of it as a little gem factory working for you in the background.

Once the mine is maxed out, you can start using those daily gems for other things. My favorite way to use them is for energy refills. When there's a special event or tournament going on that I really want to compete in, having extra gems for energy means I can play more and get better rewards. I don't spend them on shards from the shop very often, but if there's a 2x event for summoning, I might grab a few Ancient Shards if I'm feeling lucky. It's all about being patient and using your resources wisely to get the most out of the game.

If you find yourself needing a little extra to make those in-app purchases for things like gem packs, consider giving Playstorm a try. You can play fun mobile games on the app, earn gems, and redeem them for Google Play or Apple App Store gift cards. It's a great way to supplement your gaming budget without spending real money.

I'm a gamer, and I write blogs for a living. I work at Playstorm, where my main gig is writing about how to make money from games. It's pretty cool - I get to explore the games I love while helping people figure out how to profit from them. Outside of that, I'm just a blue-haired girl making her way through the universe.
