What is Hip Fire in Call of Duty Mobile?

Ever been in a super close gunfight in Call of Duty Mobile and wondered what "hip fire" is? You're not alone! It's a term you'll hear a lot, and it's a key skill to master if you want to win more of those frantic, up-close battles.
Put simply, hip fire is when you shoot your weapon without aiming down your sights (ADS). Instead of looking through your scope or iron sights, you're firing from the hip. This is the default way of shooting in the game if you just press the fire button. It's faster than aiming, but it's also less accurate.
The big advantage of hip firing is speed. In close-quarters combat, every millisecond counts. Aiming down your sights takes a moment, and in that moment, your enemy could get the first shot off. By hip firing, you can start shooting almost instantly. I remember one time on the Shipment map, I ran around a corner and came face-to-face with an enemy. There was no time to aim, so I just held down the fire button and managed to get the kill. If I had tried to ADS, I would've been a goner for sure.
When Should You Hip Fire?
So, when is the best time to use hip fire? It's all about the situation. Here are a few scenarios where hip firing is your best bet:
- Close-Quarters Combat: This is the most obvious one. When an enemy is right in your face, hip firing is the way to go. It's much quicker and more effective than trying to aim.
- When You're on the Move: If you're running and shooting, your accuracy is going to be low anyway. Hip firing allows you to stay mobile while still putting out a stream of bullets.
- Using a Shotgun or SMG: These weapons are designed for close-range fights and often have good hip-fire accuracy. I have a QQ9 loadout with attachments that specifically boost its hip-fire accuracy, making it a beast in close encounters.
Of course, hip firing isn't always the answer. At medium to long ranges, you'll want to aim down your sights for better accuracy. Trying to hip fire an assault rifle at an enemy across the map is a surefire way to waste ammo and get yourself killed.
