How to Play Block Blast

Block Blast is a super fun and addictive puzzle game that’s easy to learn but tricky to master. If you’ve ever played Tetris, you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. The game gives you different shaped blocks, and your job is to fit them onto an 8x8 grid. When you complete a full line of blocks, either horizontally or vertically, that line disappears, and you get points.
The main goal of Block Blast is to keep clearing lines and score as many points as you can before you run out of space on the grid. You get three block shapes to place at a time. The game ends when you can’t fit any of the given block shapes onto the board. It’s a simple concept, but as the game goes on, you have to think more strategically about where you place each piece.
So, how do you play Block Blast? You drag the different block shapes from the bottom of the screen and drop them onto the 8x8 grid. The aim is to fill a complete row or column to clear the line and make space for new blocks. You have to place all three given shapes before you get a new set.
I remember when I first started playing, I would just try to clear lines as fast as possible. But I quickly learned that planning ahead is key. Now, I always look at all three block shapes I have and think about the best way to use them together. Sometimes, holding onto a straight piece for that perfect moment to clear a line is a total game-changer.
Tips and Tricks for Block Blast
To get better at Block Blast, it helps to have a few tricks up your sleeve. Here are some tips that have helped me boost my score:
- Plan Ahead: Don’t just focus on the block you’re placing right now. Look at the next pieces you have and think about where they could go. This helps you avoid getting stuck with a piece you can’t place.
- Clear Multiple Lines: Whenever you can, try to clear more than one line at a time. This will give you a higher score and clear more space on the board. I once managed a four-line clear, and the point bonus was awesome!
- Don't Rush: It’s tempting to place blocks quickly, but taking your time to think about the best spot can make a huge difference. There’s no time limit, so use that to your advantage.
- Create Combos: Clearing lines back-to-back will give you combo points. For tips on how to get an even better score, check out our guide on how to get a high score on Block Blast.
