Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a truly massive game, with so much to do and so many Pokémon to catch. One of the rarest Pokémon you can get your hands on is the mythical Shaymin, but it's not immediately obvious how to do so. Luckily, the process is actually quite simple, it just requires you to have played a previous Pokémon game on your Nintendo Switch.

To get Shaymin in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you need to have save data from either Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield on your Nintendo Switch. You also need to have beaten the main story of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and watched the credits roll. Once you've done this, a new request will become available.

A Token of Gratitude

This special request is called "A Token of Gratitude" and can be found on the blackboard in Professor Laventon's office. A woman named Medi will ask you to find a Pokémon she is grateful for, and will give you a Gracidea flower as a clue. She tells you that this Pokémon can be found in a field of Gracidea flowers.

The location you're looking for is the Floaro Gardens, which is in the Obsidian Fieldlands. When you arrive, a cutscene will play and Shaymin will appear! I remember the first time I did this, I was so excited to finally see Shaymin in the game. I had my whole team ready for a tough battle, but it turned out to be a much more peaceful encounter than I was expecting.

Catching Shaymin is pretty straightforward. It's a quick little Pokémon and it might try to run away, so you'll have to be fast. I found that sneaking up on it from behind and throwing a Feather Ball worked really well. It only took me a couple of tries to catch it, and it was so rewarding to finally add this mythical Pokémon to my Pokédex.

Once you have Shaymin, you can use the Gracidea flower on it to change it into its Sky Forme. This changes its appearance and makes it a Flying/Grass type, which is a pretty cool combination.
