How to Do Split Screen on Fortnite

Playing Fortnite with a friend is awesome, but playing on the same couch is even better. If you’re looking to team up with a buddy in the same room, you’re in luck because Fortnite supports split-screen mode on certain consoles. It’s a fantastic way to share the fun without needing a second TV.
To put it simply, you can play split-screen on Fortnite on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. All you need is a second controller and a second Epic Games account. Once you have those ready, you just need to turn on the second controller and log in.
How to Set Up Split Screen
Getting split-screen running is pretty straightforward. My little brother and I figured it out in a couple of minutes last weekend. He was so excited to finally show me his building skills right next to me instead of just yelling over a headset.
Here’s a quick step-by-step guide to get you started:
1. Start Fortnite: Launch Fortnite on your PlayStation or Xbox.
2. Connect the Second Controller: Turn on your second controller and connect it to the console.
3. Log In: Once the second controller is on, a prompt will appear on the screen asking the second player to log in. They will need to select their own Epic Games account. If they don’t have one, they’ll need to create one first.
4. Join the Lobby: After logging in, Player 2 will appear in the lobby with you. You'll see their character standing next to yours.
5. Start Playing: That's it! You can now jump into a game of Duos or Squads together.
Just a heads-up, split-screen only works in Duos and Squads modes. You won't be able to use it for Solo, Creative, or Save the World modes. Also, remember that the screen will be divided horizontally, so each player gets the top or bottom half of the screen. It can feel a bit cramped at first. I remember one time my friend and I were playing, and I got so into the game I completely forgot which screen was mine and started running his character into a wall! We had a good laugh about that one.
Playing split-screen is a great way to introduce a friend or family member to the world of Fortnite. If you and your duo partner are looking to grab some new skins or the latest Battle Pass, remember you can make those in-app purchases without spending your own cash. By playing games on Playstorm, you can earn points and redeem them for PlayStation or Xbox gift cards to use in the Fortnite Item Shop.
